Vergenoegen shoreline at sunsetThis is a photo of part of the Vergenoegen shoreline taken from the Truck Line area of the seawall looking towards the village of Philadelphia. The beach is a popular place for village boys and young men to play softball cricket while others use it to exercise, run or simply enjoy an afternoon stroll. The trees in the distance have provided shelter for many a bush cook. Iguana hunters have been known to roam these bushes searching for iguanas to trap and sell either in the village or places like Parika Market. Iguana meat and eggs are delicacies in Guyana.
